Grebenshikov and the working group of the Rock-Arsenal festival. Yekaterinburg, 1992. Nikalaich (Chairman of the organizing committee) to the left of BG (in general, it will be easy to recognize me later on in all archive photos, so usually I am the "longest"))
I must say right away that I am not a fan of the creativity of the "Aquarium" group, most of the compositions do not touch me, I like other music, more rhythmic.
The lyrics of many songs, for all their beautiful philosophicality (a lot in common, in my opinion) with the poetry of Bob Dilan, (aka Nobel Prize Laureate Robert Zimmerman)) , they don't touch me too much, I still find artificiality in most of them, "feigned aesthetics", we even somehow had a small discussion with Boris Borisych, in which we would not argue (after all, I studied philosophy professionally, unlike the mathematician Grebenshchikov), rather I tried to understand what and what.
But I still don’t understand)). But, probably, this is for the best, as B.G. : "Here is a pine growing, why understand the meaning of its existence" ... though I retorted to him that from a pine - benefit, shadow, cones - food for squirrels, ozonization of the air.
But over time I realized that the meaning of the songs of "Aquarium", their purpose, is precisely in this - in the "ozonization" of the stale air of our being.
But nevertheless, a couple of dozen compositions by BG are among my favorites, those in which there is a poetic vector and rhythm consonant with me. I will slowly introduce them to readers in this cycle.
I'll start with my favorite piece. Of course, I immediately mastered his simple guitar line, my voice is not bad, so I even took the liberty of performing this song a couple of times at the parties of "Russian rock legends".
Well, sometimes I just read poetry "to myself", in my head, when I want to give a break to my brains and nerves, to get a positive charge.
It is like a mantra. I read it, and once again realized how small all the problems are, how not worth it to worry about. A person has only one insoluble problem in life - the death of his loved ones.
You can give a damn about everything else from the "beautiful hill" ...
Sorry for Google - translation, done for the convenience of readers
Sitting on a beautiful hill
I often have dreams, and that's what I think:
It's not the money, not the number of women
And not in the old folklore, and not in a New Wave -
But we go blindly into strange places,
And all that we have is joy and fear,
Fear that we are worse than can
And the joy that everything is in safe hands;
And in every dream
I simply can not refuse,
And somewhere to run, but when I Wake up,
I hope you'll be with me...
