8 explorers died in the Russian volcano, rescue operations are underway
At least 8 climbers have been reported killed in an accident while climbing Klychevskaya Sopka, the highest volcano in Eurasia. An operation is now being conducted to rescue the survivors. The news of this death was published in the American media CNN
According to the sources of the Russian news agency RIA Novosti, CNN reported that the expedition began on August 30, climbing Klichevskaya Sopka, the highest volcano in the Eurasia region, located in Kamchatka, eastern Russia. There were two guides in this climbing group of 12 people. At 4,750 meters (15,580 ft), Klichevskaya Sopka is one of the highest active volcanoes in the world.
Rescue teams are now trying to reach survivors, Russia's Civil Defense and Disasters Ministry told news agency RIA Novosti. The climbers reportedly separated from the camp at an altitude of 3,300 meters (10,826 ft).
They are believed to be somewhere around 4,150 meters (13,500 ft) high. The rescue team is trying to reach the camp at an altitude of 3300 meters by midnight today. After reaching there, the rescue team will start climbing from tomorrow morning, said the relevant ministry of Russia.
